Touchstone: Experience a Colors In Motion moment

Our title suggests experiencing Nature through multiple modes of seeing, hearing and feeling.

Davin Currie's camera explores the reaching of trees, peers deep into budding flowers, and evokes moods and emotions.

The abstractions in Linda DeHart's watercolors are her form of remembering nature, which echo the dynamic dance of texture and color of Davin's photographs.

Complementing this visual harmony, Davin improvises on the Kantele, a Finnish Harp, with jazz musician Stan Strickland, creating a counterpoint of sight and sound. This unique collaboration of multifaceted music and visuals helps us take in the beauty that exists around us each day... another form of remembering.

Stan Strickland, a Master Teacher at Berklee College of Music, Tufts University and Longy School of Music, has cultivated his signature style with saxophone, flute, clarinet, vocals, and dance. Holding a degree in Expressive Arts from Lesley University, he is Co-Executive Director of "Express Yourself," working in partnership with adolescents in public mental health residential facilities to produce multimedia performances.

Davin Currie is a young, self-taught multimedia artist from Maine. A gifted musician and nature photographer, Davin translates the gestures of the natural elements around us into extraordinary music and breathtaking imagery. Stan's skilled mentoring of an emerging talent in recording sessions was a delight to witness, as both musicians worked out this unique first improvisation of Kantele, woodwinds, and voice, synchronizing their playing to the images.

Vivid Echoes exemplifies the spirit of Colors In Motion: to bring attention to the inspiration and calming influence of nature and creative expression. The experience of each TOUCHSTONE is enhanced by the introduction composed by Susan Bayley, our behind-the scenes Creative Integrator, a multi-faceted artist in her own right.

Express Yourself!
On May 26, 7:00 pm, Express Yourself! is presenting their 22nd Annual Performance at the Citi Performing Arts Center/Wang Theatre. Join Stan Strickland and the young performers for an evening of positive artistic self-expression.

Colors In Motion with Inner Space Meditation Event
On a sunny, early spring afternoon, 150 people chose to experience another Colors In Motion big-screen immersive meditation in the comfort of the beautiful Cambridge Public Library Auditorium. Inner Space Meditation Center and Gallery in Cambridge invited Colors In Motion to collaborate and present the audiovisual meditation.

The TOUCHSTONES selected for the event showcased a broad selection of Linda DeHart's spacious watercolors synchronized with the music of two recent collaborators.

Catharine DeLong of New York City, music thanatologist, opened the event playing the harp as images from TOUCHSTONE Chakra Lullaby were projected on the screen. Then, the TOUCHSTONE Sleep Like a Baby bathed the space in the lilting piano improvisations of Eve Kodiak. The program continued to deepen our tranquil state with Merrilyn Hener of Inner Space Medication Center and Gallery conducting a live guided meditation paired with the TOUCHSTONE Sublime featuring Catharine's harp.

The meditation closed with a sharing of experiences among those gathered. There have been numerous positive responses sent to us after the event as well; if you were there and have additional anecdotes to share, we'd love to hear from you in email at info@colorsinmotion.com.
