Touchstone: Experience a Colors In Motion moment

The radiance of light flowing forth through colored glass has ignited people's awe throughout the ages. It was the original method of bringing immersive color into architectural spaces. Emanations pays homage to past and contemporary art glass. Linda DeHart's camera catches light emanating through a plethora of windows, lamps, and plates.

Linda's love for Art Glass is perfectly paired with her passion for color. Could this be because Louis Comfort Tiffany is a great uncle in her mother's lineage?

Seven years ago Linda met Joshua Hummel, a Hartford, CT musician and composer, at the premiere performance of Josh's choral masterpiece, Novum Decus Oritur, winner of the 2010 Spectrum Singers Composition Competition. Since then Josh has played an important role in helping to shape the Colors In Motion brand as a Musician and Composer for 22 Touchstones. Linda has been waiting patiently for the right opportunity to use Novum Decus Oritur in a Touchstone. Its time has come and we hope you agree that the image selections for Emanations meets the grace and beauty of this extraordinary opus.

As with all of our work, this piece has been designed to be viewed on very large screens in public spaces, which is in the same spirit of the long tradition of stained glass windows in churches. Thanks to Christopher Graefe's masterful creative skills using the new technology of the 21st Century, Colors In Motion is able to merge the past with the present. His expertise allows TOUCHSTONES to infuse us with rhythmically moving light filled colors synchronized with sound in ways that help restore a calming balance to our fast paced lives. Thus Colors In Motion remains loyal to its vision of elevating people's states of consciousness within any environment.

In Emanations the spectacular opening and ending image is of the 1890 Tiffany & Company window, which graces the Old Cambridge Baptist Church. This early Tiffany window bridges the gothic stained glass tradition with the then emerging art nouveau movement. The other photographs of Tiffany, George Washington Maher and John LaFarge stained glass windows are from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. The images of a Tiffany Lamp are from The Mohonk Mountain House, in New York State and other stained glass images are from The Hotel Pemaquid, in Maine. These more traditional stained glass images are interwoven with a contemporary dichromatic fine art plate from Linda's collection.

Josh's choral work, Novum Decus Oritur - "A new splendor arises," was performed and recorded in 2010 in Cambridge, MA, by John Ehrlich and the Spectrum Singers.

Novum Decus Oritur
Novum decus oritur
mundo nunc degenti
salus Ade nascitur
Nunc cum iubilo cantemus simul adventum salvatoris,
qui alpha et o,
extitit principium et finis.

A New Splendor Arises
A New Splendor Arises
from the world now passing
the salvation of Adam is born.
Now with joy together let us sing of the savior,
who as alpha and omega,
exists as beginning and end.
